What are Orthotics?
Orthotics are devices used to correct foot and ankle problems without surgery. They can be off the shelf or custom made for the individual patient’s feet.
How do orthotics Work?
Orthotics can help in redistribution of pressures in the foot and ankle to relieve pain or even immobilisation of arthritic and painful joints. This is especially true for diabetics who are at high risk for developing foot ulcers. Orthotic prescription at Dr Mathur’s clinic is based on the clinical evaluation of all the components of the foot and ankle deformity and their flexibility as well as obtaining a pressure map of the foot (foot scan).
