Cavus foot
This deformity causes an increase in the inner arch of the foot, inward turning of the heel bone and clawing
if the toes. It usually arises due to a muscle imbalance in the foot usually due to genetically acquired diseases like charcot marie Tooth disease or sequel
of previous bony injuries or burns. Treatment may involve changing footwear, orthotic supports, braces or surgery in advanced or progressive deformities.
Surgery in these cases involves balancing muscle forces around the foot with transfer of tendons from the stronger to the weaker areas of the foot along with bony correction
of deformities by cutting of bones(osteotomies) or fusing of joints varying from case to case.
